Third Place in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge!
This February, our people took part in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge, an inclusive nationwide initiative run by Love to Ride that encourages New Zealanders to discover the joy of cycling while supporting personal wellbeing and carbon reduction goals. As part of the workplace challenge, MetService competed against organisations of a similar size - earning points for every ride logged and for every colleague encouraged to join.
Across the month, 21 MetService riders logged:
- 327 rides
- 7.1% staff participation
- 3,163 km ridden
- And we achieved our internal goal of 3,000 km cycled by 28 February
MetService placed third in Wellington in the 200–499 employees’ category - a result we’re really proud of!
A special shoutout to Clare O'Connor, our workplace champion, whose encouragement helped keep riders motivated throughout the challenge.
Movement and wellbeing are especially important in a 24/7 operation where teams work all kinds of hours. Finding time to ride looked different for everyone: sunrise commutes, lunchtime loops, or weekend rides with whānau.
Ka pai to everyone who took part!
