MetService appoints Rob Harrison as Interim Chief Executive
MetService is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Harrison as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
MetService Director and Board Chair, Martin Matthews says, “Rob has been doing a brilliant job this year, as Acting Chief Executive, so we are delighted he has accepted this Interim role.”
Rob will lead the organisation through the transition period ahead of MetService’s planned acquisition by Earth Sciences New Zealand. His previous role as Chief of Customer and Commercial, alongside his position on the Executive Leadership Team, has equipped him with the deep understanding and strategic insight needed to guide the business forward.
As Interim CEO, Rob will also lead our engagements with Earth Sciences New Zealand to co-develop an enhanced weather forecasting system that benefits all of New Zealand.

About Rob Harrison
Rob Harrison is an experienced executive with a strong track record of leadership across the global weather and environmental services sector. Since joining MetService in 2018, Rob has held several senior roles, most recently serving as Chief of Customer and Commercial, where he led market strategy, engagement, and commercial performance across a diverse customer base spanning consumer, government, and business sectors.
Rob brings a blend of scientific expertise, commercial acumen, and transformational leadership. Trained as a Marine Scientist in the UK, he began his career delivering meteorological and oceanographic consultancy solutions before joining the UK Met Office as a climate scientist. He later transitioned into senior leadership roles, including Head of Renewables, Regional Head for Southeast Asia, and Lead Operating Officer for the Met Office Business Group, where he oversaw strategy, operations, and organisational transformation.
